Xero Products Announces Three New Products Tailored to Meet the Needs of Prosthetic and Picc Patients and Cast Wearers
The Stay Dry™ concept has been expanded to meet the needs of amputees, patients with peripherally inserted central catheters [PICC lines] and patients who suffer from the discomfort caused by prolonged cast wear. All items – Prosthetic Cover, PICC Cuff and Cast Scratcher -- are affordablypriced* and are available at XeroSox.
The Prosthetic Cover and PICC Cuff utilize the same patented Pro-Pump vacuum seal characteristic of the Stay Dry™ product. Stay Dry™, also known as XeroSox™, is a surgical latex sleeve that fits over a cast and vacuum seals to createa full waterproof cast, even when fully submerged. Developed by podiatrist Dr. Roy Archambault, DPM, ABFS, Stay Dry™ gives people with fractures the opportunity to shower, swim or endure the elements without the worry of water damage.
Prosthetic Covers
Most prosthetic devices are made of highly engineered foam that cannot tolerate water, meaning the prosthetic must be removed before showering and swimming, which makes movement awkward. Many amputees have already discovered the benefits of Stay Dry™ to cover their prosthetic during water activity. Recognizing the need for a specialized prosthetic sleeve, Xero Products has just released a prosthetic cover at the Amputee Coalition of America Conference in Nashville, TN, August 5-7. The new prosthetic cover is made of a thicker, more durable latex that creates a slimmer, more customized fit.
PICC Cuff
Set for release in early September, the PICC Cuff offers waterproof protection to infusion therapy patients with a peripherally inserted central catheter. Due to the threat of infection associated with a PICC line, keeping the area clean and dry is of utmost importance. The cuff is open at both ends and fits the arm several inches and below the bend in the elbow to adequately cover the catheter site but allow a patient full use of his hand.
Cast Scratcher
One of the most prominent sources of discomfort for patients wearing a cast is the hot, itching that results from prolonged wear. Xero Products will release a Cast Scratcher in late October that uses Stay Dry's patented Pro-Pump to send a puff of cool air into the cast and alleviate itching. The Cast Scratcher may also be put in the freezer to intensify the cool temperature of the air. For additional relief, the pump valve may be reversed to take in talcum powder and then blow it into the cast.
